Upcoming Events for the Community & Parish

SACRED TRUST FORUM:  Join us as St. John's hosts the Inter-religious Eco-Justice Network's Sacred Trust Forum on Tuesday, October 16.  The keynote speaker will be The Rev'd Sally Bingham, founder of Interfaith Power and Light.  This event will include lectures, demonstrations and breakout groups.  For more information, go to www.irejn.org or contact The Rev'd Anna Pearson in the church office.  This yearly event brings people from many faiths and backgrounds together, united by a concern for all of God's creation.

PERFORMANCE AND POTLUCK:  Join us on the evening of October 11 for Susan Fay's one-woman performance of The Book of Ruth.  Susan has worked extensively in the Hartford area, and we are blessed to have her present this original work at St. John's!  A potluck parish supper will accompany this event, and all are invited to attend.

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL:  Save the date for this year's ever-popular Christmas Festival, Saturday, December 1.  Crafts and Christmas decorations, books and collectibles, food and clam chowder, along with games for children of all ages.

WEST HARTFORD INTER-GENERATIONAL RELIEF TRIP TO THE GULF COAST AND LOUISIANA.   April 12-19 (during public school holidays) provides an opportunity to continue to help in the enormous relief and reconstruction still taking place after Hurricane Katrina.  This trip, sponsored by the churches of the West Hartford Clergy Association, is open to youth in 9th grade and older, as well as adults.  Cost is approximately $700, which includes airfare, lodging and food.  Contact the Rector or Cynthia Lawler for more information.
